Mount Matutum

This picture of Mount Matutum is taken from

The majestic Mount Matutum is a natural landmark of the province of South Cotabato.  According to Wikipedia, (the free encyclopedia ), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountmatutum

- Matutum is a stratovolcano that rises 2,286 meters asl with a base diameter of 25 km.
It has 2 hot springs, called Akjmoan and Linan, 5.7 km west-southwest of the volcano.
Adjacent volcanic edifices are Landayao, Tampad, and Albulhek, which are all west of the volcano, and Magolo to the north.
There is a well-preserved 320 metre wide crater at the volcano's summit. The crater is breached by three gorges and has a 120 metre deep, densely forested floor.
Volcanologists suspect that Matutum may have had a phreatic explosion on March 7, 1911.

Matutum is one of the active volcanos in the Philippines. All are part of the Pacific ring of fire.
-----------
What catches my attention is that portion "Volcanologists suspect that Matutum may have had a phreatic explosion on March 7, 1911".  There's a wind-whispered belief of the old that this volcano celebrates its birthday every 100 years.  It's now September 2011 and this great edifice seems to forget its hazy, supposed to be birthday.  The populace of South Cotabato or the whole Socsargen area would be very thankful and happy if this how-many-centuries old gift of nature will just stay silently contented on its watching over the vast pineapple plantation and a factory of a multi-national corporation that supports the living, directly or indirectly, of hundreds of thousands and more of filipinos.

Polomolok— Department of Labor and Employment Region XII (DOLE XII)  conducted the Certification Election (CE) at  Dole Philippines, Inc. (Dole Phil), Gym, Cannery Road, Polomolok, South Cotabato, yesterday, February 22, 2011.

Gales were the contending parties seeking to be certified as the sole and exclusive bargaining agent of Dole Phil.,Inc.
So far this is the most peaceful Certification Election I ever witnessed said Director Isidro  L. Cepeda , NCMB XI, Davao City who is a member of the Tripartite Committee, which was created  pursuant to Administrative Order No. 08, creating a Tripartite Committee at Dole Philippines, issued by DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz.
The committee signed a Social Partnership Accord which aims to maintain the peace and the integrity of the forthcoming certification election of Dole Phil., by mutually binding themselves to safeguard the rights of the workers before, during and after the said election last January 31, 2011.
The election officially closed at 6:30 pm and counting of votes immediately followed. There were 3,876 registered voters out of which 3,776 casted their votes.
The election results were:  LEAD.PH garnered 2,814 votes and AK-NAFLU-KMU garnered 922. There were fifteen (15) who voted for No Union and twenty five (25) spoiled ballots.
Despite the termination of the certification election and the results having been known, the certification as to the sole and exclusive agent of the HOURLIES workers of Dole Phil., Inc. has to be deferred due to the manifestation of the forced Intervenor AK-NAFLU-KMU to file a formal protest. /cdmls/LCOMDOLEXII
